The Municipal Canine Center (Cecam) will hold its first Adoption Fair this Saturday, February 28th, where more than 30 dogs rescued from the streets will be available for adoption. This event is part of an effort to promote responsible adoption and animal welfare in San Cristóbal de Las Casas.
Cecam coordinator Miguel Ángel Aguirre Aguilar announced that the event will take place at the center’s facilities located at 67 San Cristóbal Boulevard, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
He explained that the available dogs are of various ages, sizes, and characteristics. Most were rescued from the streets and are currently under the center’s care, where they have received veterinary medical attention and the necessary care while awaiting adoption.
To complete the adoption process, a copy of the adopter’s voter ID is required for registration purposes and to monitor the well-being of each adopted pet. Finally, the official highlighted that Cecam maintains collaboration with citizens and groups dedicated to animal protection, who provide guidance on responsible ownership, with the goal of ensuring that adopted dogs do not return to the streets.
