Born on August 17, 1977, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, the legislator currently represents District 3 of her home state in the LXVI Legislature.

Aguilar Gil holds a bachelor’s degree in Financial Administration from ITESM and two master’s degrees: one in Applied Public Management from the same institution and another in Public Administration from Harvard University (John F. Kennedy School of Government), obtained in 2012.

In addition to her academic qualifications, she has served as a teaching assistant in a master class at Harvard University and as a professor at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

Lilia Aguilar’s career has been linked to the Labor Party (PT) since its inception, where she has held positions such as state coordinator in Chihuahua, member of the National Executive Committee, and board member of the National Electoral Institute (INE).

In the electoral arena, she was a key figure as Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s campaign coordinator in Chihuahua during the 2006 and 2012 elections.

In the federal public administration, she has held positions in various agencies:

Ministry of the Interior: Head of the Unit for Attention to Social Organizations (2018-2019).

The asset declaration that sparked public interest details that the congresswoman owns real estate and vehicles valued at over 22 million pesos.

In addition to her 16 million peso home, she declared a 5.4 million peso apartment acquired in 2014 and several late-model vehicles, along with an active mortgage of nearly 5 million pesos.

The PT congresswoman has also been embroiled in controversy due to her stance on the federal government’s electoral reform.

In an interview with José Cárdenas, the legislator asserted that her party would not support the democratic backsliding and described the proposal as a “reform that nobody asked for.”

“It is certain that we will not support anything that involves a democratic backsliding. We are on the verge of what could be World War III, and in Mexico we are discussing a reform that nobody asked for,” the congresswoman stated.
