In an unusual incident, eight vehicles were damaged after a car threw tire spikes on Domingo Arrieta Boulevard on the night of March 11.

This incident prompted a large-scale search by various law enforcement agencies to locate the vehicle, as it was presumed that its occupants were trying to avoid a traffic stop.

Although preliminary information about the incident is limited, it is believed that a unit from the Investigative Police was following a vehicle traveling south to north on Domingo Arrieta Boulevard.

During the pursuit, the occupants of the vehicle allegedly threw sharp-pointed devices, damaging the first two private vehicles near a Farmacia Guadalajara pharmacy and a Pizzaly restaurant.

Later, while returning along the same boulevard but from north to south, the alleged perpetrators threw more of these devices, damaging other private vehicles, as well as a taxi, a truck, and the patrol car of the Investigative Police.

In response, the security protocol was activated, and a special operation was deployed in the neighborhoods surrounding Domingo Arrieta Boulevard after the perpetrators fled after damaging the patrol car.

According to some witnesses, they heard air escaping from the tires or even the sound of them popping; fortunately, no accidents or injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

Minutes after the attack, mobile tire repair services arrived to help drivers change their tires so they could leave the scene.

Units from the State Attorney General’s Office also arrived to assist their colleagues in changing the two damaged tires on the patrol car.

Tire spikes have been commonly seen on some highways, as they are used by organized crime groups to carry out forced arrests.

Therefore, the fact that these devices were deployed has drawn the attention of authorities, as it is not common for them to be used on boulevards or in cities.
