With a vibrant palette of magenta, purple, green, yellow, and orange, and a logo featuring an axolotl and Quetzalcoatl, the Mexico City government unveiled the official image for the city’s hosting of the World Cup this June.

Announcing that Campo Marte will serve as the official press center for media outlets from around the world covering the sporting event, Ana María Lomelí, General Coordinator of Citizen Communication for the Mexico City Government, revealed the image that will be displayed throughout the capital in the coming months.

The official logo consists of a hoop reminiscent of the pre-Hispanic ballgame and “represents the historical consciousness of the Valley of Mexico,” she explained.
In the center of the hoop is a pink axolotl, an endemic species of the Xochimilco lakes, symbolizing the resilience and adaptability of a city “that is always reborn”; the image of Quetzalcoatl is also featured.

“For visitors, it’s an invitation to discover a vibrant and authentic city. For residents, it represents belonging, continuity, and pride. In Mexico City, soccer isn’t just a sport; it’s our origin and our community. That’s why when the World Cup comes to this city, soccer comes home,” he said.
