In a joint statement, the governments of Michoacán and Jalisco respectfully called upon the mayor of Tepalcatepec, Maricela Rangel López, to ensure that the municipal police act in strict accordance with the law and limit their patrols solely to the territory within their jurisdiction.

According to the document, signed by the Secretary General of the Government of Jalisco, Salvador Zamora Zamora, and the Secretary of the Government of Michoacán, Raúl Zepeda Villaseñor, the appeal aims to prevent incursions beyond territorial boundaries and potential legal disputes between municipalities in both states.

Specifically, the statement emphasized the importance of preventing situations that could affect the territorial sovereignty between the Michoacán municipality of Tepalcatepec and the Jalisco municipality of Jilotlán de los Dolores, as well as guaranteeing respect for municipal autonomy and institutional legality.

State authorities reiterated their commitment to dialogue, coordination, and joint efforts on public safety, emphasizing that the priority is to preserve order, stability, and tranquility for citizens in the border region between Michoacán and Jalisco.

They also issued a general call to municipal authorities to conduct themselves in strict accordance with their legal powers, in order to strengthen harmonious coexistence between neighboring states and consolidate mechanisms for institutional cooperation.
