The Secretary of Agricultural Development, Rosendo Anaya Aguilar, reported that 54 confirmed cases of screwworm infestation have been registered this year in the state of Querétaro.

He detailed that of these, 23 cases have been registered in the municipality of Landa de Matamoros; 10 in Jalpan; 9 in Pinal de Amoles; 4 in Arroyo Seco; 2 in Peñamiller; 3 in Tequisquiapan; 2 in Ezequiel Montes; and 1 in San Joaquín.

He stated that, as a result, actions have been intensified and sanitary surveillance has been reinforced to contain the spread of this pest in the state.

Rosendo Anaya emphasized that ongoing coordination is maintained with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the National Service for Agrifood Health, Safety and Quality (SENASICA) to implement joint control and eradication strategies.

As part of these actions, he announced that brigades will be deployed throughout the state, surveillance will be reinforced at slaughterhouses, corrals, and livestock movement points, and information campaigns will be continued for producers.

The secretary urged ranchers to constantly check their animals, treat any wounds immediately, and report suspected cases, as early detection is crucial to preventing the plague from spreading.
