The Spanish artist Remedios Varo will once again be featured in Mexico City with an exhibition where fans of her work can view some of the painter’s previously unseen sketches.
Considered one of the most important artists of her time, the late Remedios Varo will bring her work closer to her followers through her artistic universe, which will be on display for all interested parties.
Varo, known for employing surrealism in her highly detailed works imbued with magic, feminine experience, and science, will be seen and understood in greater depth through these previously unseen archives.
The Remedios Varo exhibition will be held at the Museum of Modern Art, which will open its doors to all those interested in learning about the artist through her works, which have impacted so many.
“Remedios Varo: Inhabitants of the Uncanny” is the title of this exhibition, which focuses on the artistic universe of its creator, populated by archetypal figures immersed in acts that oscillate between the rigor of scientific discovery and the solemnity of mystical ritual.
The museum will be exhibiting it from March 19 to July 5, 2026, giving you almost three months to visit and immerse yourself in the painter’s surrealism.
The exhibition will also offer a more intimate look at Varo, as you will be able to see some books from her personal collection that served as literary and symbolic references that enriched her work.
If you’d like to visit this exhibition, which also features detailed preparatory sketches, notebooks filled with fascinating memoirs, and psycho-humorous experiments, then come any day from Tuesday to Sunday between 10:15 a.m. and 5:45 p.m.
The entrance fee is 90 pesos, but it’s free on Sundays. So, if you’re passionate about art, and especially about this Spanish painter, or if you want to learn more about this art form, don’t miss this opportunity.
