Accompanied by authorities from all three levels of government, Mayor Fabiola Ricci Diestel inaugurated the 2026 Preventive Fair of the Permanent Commission for Crime Prevention and Citizen Participation, held on March 25 and 26. She emphasized the importance of fostering a culture of prevention in homes and schools.

During her remarks, Mayor Ricci acknowledged the coordinated work of the Security and Prevention Committee, comprised of federal, state, and municipal institutions, underscoring that thanks to this joint effort, San Cristóbal de Las Casas is positioned as one of the safest municipalities in the state of Chiapas. She also expressed her gratitude for the participation of the Mexican Army, the National Guard, security forces, and other involved agencies.

Ricci Diestel emphasized that, although progress has been made in security, significant challenges remain, such as domestic violence and violence against women. Therefore, these types of activities help raise awareness and provide children and young people with tools to prevent risks and strengthen safe environments.

For his part, the Crime Prevention Coordinator, Antonio de Jesús Villafuerte Ballinas, highlighted that this fair is the result of solid institutional work and not an improvised effort, acknowledging the mayor’s leadership in promoting actions that foster peace and security in the municipality.

Finally, it was reiterated that this event aims to bring citizens closer to institutions, promoting the active participation of students, teachers, and families.

Also present at the event was the Attorney General of Los Altos, William Hernández Ovando, along with other authorities who reaffirmed their commitment to continue building a safer and more peaceful San Cristóbal.
