The 2026 Holy Week Operation began in Hidalgo with the installation of 20 information booths to provide dignified, respectful, and humane service to families and individuals traveling through the state or visiting its various tourist destinations and recreational areas.
This operation is part of the “Paisano Heroes” program, which aims to guarantee safe and orderly transit with dignified service for Mexican nationals visiting the state during this holiday season, the state government announced in a press release.
From this municipality, authorities from all three levels of government, in coordination with security and emergency services, officially launched this operation, which prioritizes the well-being, guidance, and protection of those returning to their hometowns or traveling throughout the state.
Representing Governor Julio Menchaca Salazar, the Secretary of Welfare and Social Inclusion, Ricardo Gómez Moreno, affirmed Hidalgo’s firm commitment to providing respectful, compassionate, and humane service.
“In Hidalgo, we are committed to providing dignified, respectful, and humane care. We want every person who arrives in our state to feel welcome and safe, like they are at home,” he stated.
He said that, at the instruction of the state governor, close coordination is maintained between municipal, state, and federal agencies to ensure optimal security and support for visitors.
At the time, the head of the National Migration Institute in the state, José Hugo Cruz Cruz, explained that the Héroes Paisanos (Country Heroes) program, promoted by the Mexican government, is strengthened during peak seasons such as Holy Week, through actions aimed at protecting the physical safety and property of Mexican nationals.
He detailed that, nationwide, more than 250 assistance modules will be set up, 20 of which will be located in Hidalgo, distributed in strategic municipalities such as Ixmiquilpan, Actopan, Pachuca de Soto, Tizayuca, Tecozautla, Huasca de Ocampo, and Huejutla de Reyes, among others.
At these locations, trained personnel will provide guidance, assistance, and support to those who need it, strengthening the confidence of visitors during their stay.
The National Guard, Civil Protection, Green Angels (roadside assistance), State Police, municipal police forces, the Mexican Red Cross, and the National Emergency Commission are participating in the operation, reinforcing surveillance, assistance, and support efforts on highways and at high-traffic areas.
With these actions, Hidalgo reaffirms its commitment to being a safe, supportive, and people-centered state, where dignified treatment and humane care are fundamental pillars for welcoming those returning home.
