Alberto “N”, a businessman from Minatitlán, Veracruz, was kidnapped approximately a week ago and recently reappeared in a video circulating on social media, in which he admits to having purchased allegedly stolen fuel (huachicol).

According to the newspaper Reforma, the man appears in the video guarded by armed men, apparently confessing to participating in this type of crime.

According to unofficial reports, the businessman was forcibly removed from his home in the Soto Innes subdivision by a group of about ten armed men.

According to media reports, the approximately 28-second video shows Alberto “N” in a wooded area, surrounded by hooded men dressed in black and armed with long guns.

In the recording, the businessman claims to be in good health and says he received food and water.

“They haven’t hit me, they’ve given me food, they’ve given me water, I’m here because I bought the product.”

The message was interpreted by family and friends as a sign that he was still alive.

In the video, the businessman admits to having had ties to the acquisition of “product,” without specifying its nature, and mentions some people with whom he allegedly carried out these transactions.

He also referred to this type of illicit fuel trade not only in Minatitlán but also in nearby municipalities.

After the video was released, reports surfaced on social media indicating that Alberto “N” had been freed alive.

However, his situation has not yet been officially reported, nor has it been confirmed whether a ransom was paid, authorities intervened, or security forces were directly involved.

This type of video has appeared before in the region; in July 2025, retired teacher Irma Hernández Cruz was forced to record a message demanding “protection money” payments under threats from armed groups before dying from torture and violence.

So far, neither the Veracruz State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) nor the state government have issued any official information about the case.
