Direct flights from Canada to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo will continue operating through April 2026, instead of the usual March, thus maintaining the destination’s international connectivity.
Routes from Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary will remain active, coinciding with the Easter holiday period and boosting the arrival of international visitors to the region.
Mayor Liz Tapia Castro stated that the extension reflects the preference of international tourists for the destination and contributes to increased visitor numbers during this time.
She indicated that the presence of international tourists complements the arrival of domestic visitors and impacts economic activity during the holiday season. The extension may be due to the recent change in Canada’s travel advisory, in which Zihuatanejo was removed from the list of safe destinations.
