The Museo Arqueológico de la Costa Grande in Zihuatanejo has been exhibiting the collective exhibition Sendero del Jaguar 3 since last week, bringing together the work of more than 30 painters from the eight regions of Guerrero.
This exhibition, now in its third edition, seeks to explore the symbolic significance and identity value of the feline in the state from the perspective of the participating artists, just as the previous editions did: the first in January of last year at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Javier Mariano of the Universidad Autónoma de Guerrero (UAG), and the second in February 2026 at the Museo José Juárez in Chilpancingo.
“There will always be reasons to continue portraying the state’s first cultural symbol; we are part of a territory where the jaguar, or tecuani, represents our history, strength, and the identity of our people,” its exhibition text states, recalling that the jaguar is the state’s main emblem of identity.
Organized by the UAG’s Museo de Arte Contemporáneo itself in collaboration with a network of painters from different regions of the state and, on this occasion, the municipal government of Zihuatanejo, the exhibition explores a variety of thoughts, ideas, and emotions generated around the jaguar; strength, power, courage, and spiritual connection are expressed in every brushstroke, every line, and every drop of color.
This edition features works by Isamar Flores, Eliezer Fierro, Alberto Hernández, Hebler, Diego Tapia, Luis Elías Gracida, David Alarcón, Daniela Benítez, Abraham Flores, Abraham Flores Arenas, Adela López, José Contreras, and Mateo Chamú.
Also participating are Bethzaida Varela, Yureli Pineda, Eva Rodríguez, Inocente Silva, Guillermina Leyva, Jhon Rico, Rubid Hernández, Tlahwiltzin Gatica Rodríguez, Ángel Guzmán, Baltazar Godoy, and Tonanzin Yei Beltrán.
Finally, the exhibition includes works by Víctor Cabrera, Tonatiuh Cabrera, Sandra Silva, Shanty Morales, Martha Botello, Gelacio Gatica, Nami GR, Rou, Ashlin Bahena, Vicente Díaz, Rubén Iglesias, Juan Zagal, Ernesto Martínez, and Saulo Cienfuegos.
The exhibition Sendero del Jaguar 3, inaugurated last Friday night, September 4, at the Museo Arqueológico de la Costa Grande in the presence of the exhibitors and the museum’s director, Fidencio Molina Zamora, will remain open for one month and will also provide visitors with the opportunity to purchase the participating works.
