Costco continues to expand its presence in Mexico and plans to open a new store, reflecting its continued commitment to the Mexican market.
The new Costco store is being prepared in Querétaro with an estimated investment of $100 million and an innovative format.
This will be the second Costco store in the state and will be located in the municipality of Corregidora, a strategic area due to its economic and demographic growth.
The new Costco store will be developed under a broader concept that combines shopping, services, and food in a single space.
According to company executives, one of its main innovations is the integration of its own gas station, something the company has established as part of its business model in Mexico.
This station will offer fuel that meets international quality standards at competitive prices.
In addition, it will offer more than 5,000 national and imported products, including items from its own Kirkland Signature brand, as well as its renowned “Sushi Room,” a specialized station within the store where fresh Japanese food is prepared daily by expert chefs, some with Asian training or experience, using equipment designed for high-volume production.
The complex will occupy approximately 70,000 square meters, with a sales floor of around 15,000 square meters and more than 700 parking spaces, making it one of the largest branches.
The project also incorporates environmental measures such as LED lighting and water treatment systems.
The arrival of the new Costco branch not only strengthens the company’s presence in Mexico but will also generate at least 360 direct jobs, in addition to indirect jobs during its construction and operation, according to the state’s Undersecretary of Economic Development, Genaro Montes.
Local authorities emphasize that these types of investments solidify Querétaro’s position as an attractive hub for private capital, within a context of urban expansion and growing consumer spending.
The first stone of the new Costco store has already been laid, aiming to benefit its thousands of customers with a format that combines shopping, services, and an overall experience.
It’s worth noting that a current Costco membership is required to make purchases at Costco stores.
