Following an alert issued by one of the highway checkpoints in the municipality of Huixquilucan, State Police officers arrested Rita ‘N’, a 40-year-old Russian woman, in the La Herradura area. She was driving a high-end SUV that had been reported stolen.

According to reports, the vehicle, a white Kia SUV, was detected by the video surveillance system as it passed through one of the license plate reader systems, which compare vehicle characteristics with stolen vehicle records in real time.

Afterward, an alert was generated at the Command and Control Center, from where officers deployed in the field were notified to locate the vehicle.

Following the alert, authorities implemented a search operation that led to the interception of the SUV moments later in the La Herradura area.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the state police identified Rita ‘N’ as the driver, who allegedly could not prove legal ownership of the vehicle.

According to initial reports, the woman identified herself with a document proving her U.S. citizenship, although she claimed to be Russian, a claim that will also be reviewed by authorities.

According to the investigation, the seized vehicle was stolen on December 26, 2025, in the Los Reyes Acaquilpan Centro neighborhood of La Paz, State of Mexico.

An investigation into these events had already been opened by the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM).

After being read her rights, Rita ‘N’ was taken, along with the seized vehicle, to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, where her legal status will be determined regarding her alleged involvement in the crime of receiving stolen property.

Authorities also indicated that the investigation will be further pursued due to inconsistencies found in the documentation she presented for identification.
