Miramar Beach in Ciudad Madero saw over half a million visitors during the first seven days of the 2026 Easter holiday period, solidifying its position as one of the most important tourist destinations in northeastern Mexico.

Mayor Erasmo González Robledo reported that this result is due to coordinated efforts among authorities at all three levels of government, which has allowed them to offer safe and optimal conditions for vacationers.

The mayor emphasized the close collaboration with various federal, state, and municipal agencies, which has been key to maintaining order and security at this popular tourist destination.

“We have been in constant coordination with the Mexican Navy, Pemex (Mexican Petroleum), the Government of the State of Tamaulipas, and all municipal agencies,” he stated.

This joint strategy has enabled the implementation of operations focused on surveillance, tourist assistance, cleaning, and access control—factors that directly contribute to a positive visitor experience.

According to the mayor, tourist arrivals continue to increase as the holiday season progresses, with figures reflecting high demand for the destination.

“Today, we have a cumulative attendance of over half a million visitors for the past seven days, and we estimate exceeding 170,000 in a single day,” he stated.

These figures position Miramar Beach as one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Gulf of Mexico region this season.

Regarding the origin of visitors, González Robledo highlighted that the city of Monterrey remains the primary source market, followed by tourists from the state of Tamaulipas itself and other parts of the country.

This steady flow reflects travelers’ confidence in Miramar Beach as a safe, accessible, and family-friendly destination.

Constant Monitoring for Possible Hydrocarbon Presence
Regarding the alert for the possible presence of hydrocarbons in the coastal area, the mayor assured that authorities are maintaining constant monitoring to guarantee safe conditions.

He also ruled out any risk to visitors, reiterating that the beach is in suitable condition for tourists to enjoy.

No incidents reported during the holiday period at Miramar Beach
Finally, the mayor reported that so far, Miramar Beach has maintained a clean record, with no serious incidents affecting visitors.

“There are no serious incidents, only lost children who have been immediately reunited with their parents,” he explained.

Authorities reiterated that they will continue with surveillance and assistance operations to guarantee the safety of families throughout the remainder of the holiday period.

With record visitor numbers, safe conditions, and a coordinated strategy among the three levels of government, Miramar Beach reaffirms its position as one of the favorite destinations for Holy Week vacations.
