Authorities in Los Cabos immediately closed the establishment known as “Micheladas El Papi,” located in San José del Cabo, after a medical emergency left eight people intoxicated.
The inter-agency operation, involving the Ecology, Civil Protection, and Tax Inspection departments, was activated following health reports that indicated a serious health risk at the establishment.
The incident occurred Saturday night when the San José del Cabo Fire Department received a call for help from people experiencing severe discomfort inside the bar.
According to the official report from rescue personnel, of the eight people initially treated, five required emergency transport to nearby hospitals due to the severity of their symptoms, while the remaining eight were stabilized at the scene by paramedics.
In this regard, Manuel Barajas Gerardo, head of Tax Inspection for the Los Cabos government, confirmed through official channels that the operation carried out this Monday resulted in the permanent closure of the bar after several irregularities were detected in its operation.
The official emphasized that these actions are carried out to maintain order and ensure compliance with current regulations, acting at all times in strict accordance with the law and with a firm commitment to legality in the municipality.
During the technical inspection, authorities confirmed that the business was operating irregularly because it did not have its operating license renewed for 2026.
In addition to this administrative violation, it was found that the bar was not complying with the permitted hours for alcohol sales and was not displaying the required legal documentation publicly, which led to the placement of the closure seals.
Representatives from the involved agencies stressed that no business is above the law, especially when the physical safety of citizens is at risk.
For now, the establishment will remain under the protection of the authorities while the corresponding investigations are carried out to determine the exact causes of the poisoning and the final legal sanctions are defined.
