The Government of Yucatán will participate in Seatrade Cruise Global 2026, considered the most important gathering in the global cruise industry, with the goal of promoting the state to international cruise lines and strengthening the position of the Port of Progreso as a strategic destination in the Caribbean.

The event will take place from April 13 to 16 in Miami, Florida, where the Yucatán delegation will present the state’s competitive advantages for integrating into new maritime routes. This participation is part of the state’s tourism strategy to increase cruise ship arrivals and consolidate Yucatán’s presence in the international maritime tourism market.

The Secretary of Tourism Development, Darío Flota Ocampo, reported that during the event, meetings will be held with various cruise lines to promote the opportunities offered by the destination, especially given the progress in the expansion of the Port of Progreso, considered a key project for strengthening port infrastructure.

As part of the agenda, a meeting is also planned with representatives of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA), of which Yucatán is a platinum member, with the intention of strengthening collaborative ties that will boost the growth of cruise tourism in the state.

According to official figures, between January and March 2026, 60 cruise ships arrived in Progreso with 170,990 passengers, while during all of 2025, 153 ships and 470,476 visitors were recorded, representing increases of 47.1% in ships and 48.3% in passengers compared to the same period in 2024. These figures reflect the port’s growth within this tourism segment.
