A child pornography ring was dismantled in a joint operation between the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) and Interpol in Yucatán, with the arrest of Josué Raúl ‘N’, the alleged perpetrator of the production and distribution of the content, on Friday, April 10, in the Mulchechén subdivision, municipality of Kanasín, about nine kilometers southwest of downtown Mérida.
This is what we know about the case reported by Australia to Mexico in November of last year, which the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) included in its relevant actions during the second week of April.
In November 2025, the FGR received a complaint from the Liaison Office for Mexico and Central America, in Mexico City, forwarded by the Australian Embassy, reporting the production of this illicit material allegedly produced in Yucatán.
The investigation began with the Queensland Police, specializing in child abuse and sexual offenses, which identified that the material had been shared in July 2023.
In coordination with Australian authorities, it was discovered that Josué Raúl ‘N’ was allegedly selling the child sexual abuse material. Subsequently, the SSPC (Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection) identified the individual involved, who, over a period of approximately ten years, had allegedly contacted minors through social media, filmed them for sexual acts, and then sold the material online.
Josué Raúl ‘N’ worked as a coach for children’s and youth soccer teams.
“Therefore, the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPF), assigned to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (FEMDO), carried out various investigations and obtained an arrest warrant against this individual, which was executed in coordination with members of the SSPC and the Mexican Navy,” reported the FGR (Attorney General’s Office) spokesperson.
The arrest took place in the Mulchechén subdivision, in the municipality of Kanasín, about nine kilometers southwest of downtown Mérida. Various pieces of evidence were seized at the scene, including tablets, cell phones, SIM cards, and Micro SD cards, as well as the property itself.
The Attorney General’s Office brought him before a judge for an initial hearing, where he was formally charged with aggravated human trafficking.
What crime will Josué Raúl ‘N’ be charged with?
The Attorney General’s Office alleges his possible involvement in aggravated human trafficking, specifically the crime of inducing individuals under 18 years of age, by any means, to perform sexual acts or acts of indecent exposure for real or simulated sexual purposes. The defense requested the doubling of the constitutional term to define the legal situation of Josué Raúl ‘N’, who was ordered to comply with the precautionary measure of official preventive detention, so he will remain in the Social Reintegration Center (Cereso) of Mérida.
