The Yucatecan Institute of Entrepreneurs confirmed the participation of artisans from 45 municipalities in the upcoming Yucatán Week in Mexico City, which will take place at the Sports Palace in the nation’s capital during May.

The director of the organization, Salvador Vitelli Macías, reported that the merchandise collection process will conclude on April 15.

This year, the logistical model implemented last year will be maintained, whereby the institute assumes responsibility for collecting, transporting, and directly selling the products.

Under this methodology, participating producers do not incur operating expenses related to paying for sales spaces, transportation, or lodging.

The institute receives the pieces at its facilities, transports them to Mexico City, and sells them at the price set by the artisans themselves. At the end of the event, the total amount raised is given to each artisan, or any unsold items are returned.

Vitelli Macías indicated that this management model seeks to maximize the economic impact for local producers and ensure a representative sample of the state’s diverse artisanal practices.

The comprehensive logistics strategy operated by the state agency aims to facilitate rural communities’ access to wider markets without jeopardizing their working capital.
