The Veracruz State Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT) announced this Sunday morning, April 12, that 18 bridges will be rebuilt in northern Veracruz following the floods and rains of October 2025.
The state agency’s announcement comes three days after the federal SICT reported that reconstruction work on damaged roads and bridges would begin this April in five states: Hidalgo, Puebla, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, and Veracruz.
At the morning press conference on April 9, Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, head of the federal SICT, reported that 18 roads would be repaired; however, on April 12, it was confirmed that 18 damaged bridges will be rebuilt across eight municipalities in northern Veracruz.
Municipalities Where Bridges Will Be Rebuilt After Flood Damage
According to the Veracruz State Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation, these are the eight municipalities in Veracruz where 18 damaged bridges will be rebuilt:
Ilamatlán: 4 bridges
El Higo: 4 bridges
Zontecomatlán: 3 bridges
Álamo Temapache: 2 bridges
Ixhuatlán de Madero: 2 bridges
Tempoal: 1 bridge
Misantla: 1 bridge
Coyutla: 1 bridge
When Will the Rehabilitation Work Begin?
Esteva Medina indicated at a press conference that reconstruction work on the affected roads and bridges will begin this April.
For its part, SICT Veracruz said on its official accounts that the executive projects are currently being prepared to define each project, and without giving estimated dates, the bidding processes for the projects will begin later.
