Five people were killed and 10 wounded in an attack Wednesday night at a home in the Valle Dorado 2000 neighborhood, where an illegal cockfight was allegedly taking place.
Four of the victims died at the scene, and a fifth died later while receiving medical attention at a hospital.
The attack occurred when several gunmen got out of two pickup trucks and, without saying a word, opened fire on the civilians inside the house.
In less than three minutes, the gunmen fled toward the border with Guanajuato, and authorities have yet to apprehend them. The attack left ten people wounded.
The Querétaro State Attorney General’s Office, in a statement, announced that it has opened an investigation.
“Immediately, ministerial, forensic, and Criminal Investigation Police personnel arrived at the scene to conduct investigative work under the direction of this Prosecutor’s Office, processing the scene, collecting evidence, and gathering data to precisely establish the circumstances of the incident.”
For his part, the state governor, Mauricio Kuri González, indicated that he would preside over “a security meeting in the next few minutes,” adding that “all necessary medical attention is being provided to the injured” and that “the Corregidora city council is giving special attention to the identified family members.”
