As part of Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona’s efforts to strengthen security in the four regions of the state, San Luis Potosí ranked among the states with the lowest homicide rates in the country in March, tying for second place with Yucatán and Durango, with three cases registered, equivalent to 0.2 percent of the national total, according to data presented at the morning press conference of Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
These results reflect the unparalleled progress of the Comprehensive Security Strategy implemented by the Governor to reduce high-impact crimes. This strategy is supported by coordinated operations, increased police presence throughout the state, and enhanced surveillance at strategic locations, which has led to a more peaceful environment for the population.
According to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System, during the first quarter of 2026, the state maintained its position among those with the best indicators in the country, strengthening public trust and economic growth. The head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Jesús Juárez Hernández, highlighted that coordination between institutions, social programs, the strengthening of infrastructure and attention to the causes generate safer environments, which demonstrates the change that is experienced and felt in the daily lives of families in San Luis Potosí.
