Trailer crash knocks down arch and closes the Qro-SLP highway

A semi-trailer truck knocked down the “Welcome to Querétaro” sign arch on the Querétaro-San Luis Potosí highway, near the community of Ojo de Agua in Santa Rosa Jáuregui, causing a complete road closure and a large emergency response.

According to initial reports, the driver of the truck crashed directly into the base of the metal structure, presumably after falling asleep at the wheel. The force of the impact caused the arch to collapse.

After the collision, the structure fell onto the road, blocking both lanes and causing severe disruptions for those traveling to Santa Rosa Jáuregui and the state of San Luis Potosí.

Following a report to the 911 emergency number, National Guard personnel arrived at the scene and secured the area to prevent further incidents, causing long lines of vehicles stopped due to the complete closure.

Emergency responders from Querétaro provided first aid to the driver, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Personnel from the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) are using heavy machinery to remove the remains of the arch, while cranes are working to remove the cargo truck. Authorities are urging the public to exercise extreme caution and use alternate routes until traffic is restored.
