There will be a new massive truckers’ blockade; will it affect the Mexico-Queretaro highway?

961

Due to the breakdown in dialogue between drivers, farmers, and agricultural workers and the federal government, a new nationwide truckers’ blockade has been announced, which would affect the country’s main highways, including the Mexico-Querétaro highway.

Negotiations stalled on April 10, when leaders of the National Truckers Association (ANTAC) and the National Front for the Rescue of the Mexican Countryside (FNRCM) were preparing to enter the headquarters of the Ministry of the Interior in Mexico City.

In a statement, they denied having been invited to formal working groups, contradicting the version of events given by the Undersecretary of the Interior, César Yáñez, who claimed that the authorities were maintaining a dialogue with the groups.

“The National Truckers Association, together with the FNRCM, denies the statements of the Undersecretary, who is trying to create the impression that there is a dialogue with the true transportation sector of the country.”

When will the truckers’ blockade of the country’s highways take place?

According to the groups, the planned date for the road closures would be June 11, the opening day of the 2026 World Cup.

As of now, it is unknown which roads would be affected. However, some of the most important highways could be impacted, such as:

Mexico-Querétaro Highway
Mexico-Cuernavaca Highway
Mexico-Pachuca Highway
Mexico-Puebla Highway
Highways in Michoacán and Jalisco
Border crossings such as Ciudad Juárez
Short Route to Chihuahua
Federal Highway 45 Pan-American Highway
Culiacán-Mazatlán Highway
Salamanca-Celaya Highway
Federal Highway 49 (Zacatecas-San Luis Potosí)
Federal Highway 15D (Western Highway)
Morelia-Pátzcuaro Highway
