The Los Cabos City Council launched a free drinking water distribution program using tanker trucks in Cabo San Lucas, serving more than 200 families affected by water scarcity on its first day.

The program began in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 18, with 20 tanker trucks traveling through priority neighborhoods to deliver water directly to homes.

According to OOMSAPAS Los Cabos (the local water utility), one of the areas served on this first day was the Las Palmas neighborhood, identified as having a high need for water.

The utility reported that the program will be expanded starting Monday, April 20, with the goal of benefiting up to 1,000 additional families in Cabo San Lucas.

Authorities stated that this measure is part of an emergency strategy to address the problem of access to water, while broader actions are being developed, such as securing new water sources in coordination with federal agencies.

It was also indicated that infrastructure projects related to drinking water, drainage and sanitation are ongoing, with the aim of improving service and reducing dependence on water deliveries by tanker truck.
