The Royal Princess cruise ship arrived in Mazatlán this Tuesday with 5,000 visitors. It is the 13th of 20 cruise ships scheduled to arrive during April, all of which contribute to Mazatlán’s local economy.

The arrival of cruise ships is a key event for tourism on the Mexican Pacific coast, especially for Mazatlán, due to the economic activity they generate as they pass through the city, noted tourism promoter Rafael González.

He indicated that the influx of cruise ship passengers is particularly noticeable during Mazatlán’s off-season, as thousands of passengers and crew disembark in the city.

The cruise ship arrived from destinations such as Los Cabos and is characterized by its luxury, panoramic design, modern technology, and the significant economic impact it generates by visiting the Historic Center, local markets, and beaches before continuing its voyage to Puerto Vallarta, he added.

“Every time a cruise ship arrives, we have a sales opportunity, not only for the tours we offer but also for the entire service chain, from shops, restaurants, and transportation providers to those offering water activities and rural tourism,” he stated.

The Royal Princess arrived at the port docks around 8:30 a.m. and is scheduled to depart at 6:00 p.m.

According to the State Tourism Secretariat, the ship has 3,560 passengers and 1,322 crew members on board.

It also represents a great spectacle for locals in La Puntilla when a cruise ship arrives in the city, as was the case with the Royal Princess, which brought more than 3,500 tourists.

Official data from the visit estimates that it will generate an economic impact of around 4 to 5 million pesos, assuming the percentage of passengers spends money during their stay, enjoying the rich culture, traditions, and attractions that distinguish Mazatlán as one of the most attractive tourist destinations for the cruise industry, which continues to attract cruise ships.

Tourists often explore key attractions such as the Malecón, the Historic Center, the Cathedral, and nearby communities like El Quelite.
