The death of a young man from Canada, which occurred early Wednesday morning in the Getsemaní neighborhood of the Ixtapa district in Puerto Vallarta, is being investigated by Jalisco authorities along several lines of inquiry, given the lack of witnesses to clarify what happened.
The man was found dead inside a home located at the intersection of San Juan and Jerusalem streets, with stab wounds, leaving open the possibility of both a direct attack and suicide.
The report was received shortly before midnight by municipal police and emergency services, who upon entering the residence confirmed that the victim was deceased. He was preliminarily identified as Jeremías, between 20 and 25 years old, who was reportedly renting the home. Only the homeowner was present at the scene; he confirmed this and left before the formal investigation began.
Personnel from the Jalisco Attorney General’s Office, along with agents from the Investigative Police and experts from the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences, processed the scene to collect evidence that will help reconstruct the events. The body was transferred to the Forensic Medical Service, where an autopsy will be performed to accurately determine the cause of death.
