According to initial reports, he left Comalcalco on Tuesday night bound for Veracruz to carry out work related to tarpaulins and tents. During the journey, near Nanchital, Veracruz, a tire was allegedly placed across the road, causing them to have a mishap.
Following the incident, Humberto N. and his companions were reportedly intercepted by a group of armed men dressed as police officers and wearing hoods, who allegedly kidnapped them and subjected them to physical assault.
Travelling with the businessman were his employees, identified as Candelario N., Francisco N., and Alexis N., who were also assaulted during the incident.
According to preliminary information, the alleged perpetrators demanded a ransom of 300,000 pesos from the businessman’s family in exchange for their release. Early Wednesday morning, the victims were released and subsequently returned to Comalcalco.
However, due to the severity of his injuries, Humberto N. died shortly after arriving at his home in the Morelos neighborhood. Paramedics and authorities arrived at the scene to provide assistance, but confirmed that he had no vital signs.
