As part of the preparations for Tabasco’s biggest celebration, Guillermo Priego León, Undersecretary of Fisheries and Aquaculture for the State Government, extended a warm invitation to all citizens to visit the agency’s booth and learn firsthand about the achievements of the “Fishing for Life” program during the 2026 Tabasco Fair.
Just one day before Governor Javier May Rodríguez officially inaugurates the festivities at Tabasco Park, Priego León emphasized that the space will be dedicated to highlighting the work of local producers, offering a gastronomic, educational, and cultural experience.
“I invite everyone who may have tasted the dishes, the flavor, the seasoning of the ‘Fishing for Life’ program producers at the Oyster and Tilapia Gastronomic Festival to come because they will be here. We will have four learning communities offering the fruits of their labor, prepared with great flavor,” he explained.
In addition to the food, the stand will feature an exhibition of traditional boats crafted by local artisans, an initiative that seeks to revive the region’s river traditions and has garnered significant public attention.
“We’ll also have a display of canoes; there’s already considerable interest. The truth is, every time we post something about canoes, it becomes quite an interesting dynamic. (…) Here we’ll have a display of the canoes manufactured by the government’s canoe factory,” he explained.
The space has also been designed with children in mind and to promote knowledge about local aquatic life. To this end, the Undersecretary’s office has installed interactive aquariums where specialists will be providing valuable information to attendees.
The official reiterated the call to families to attend the “People’s Festival 2026”, visit the stand of the Secretariat of Agricultural and Fisheries Development (SEDAP) and not miss the opportunity to try “an oyster or a mojarra with a good sauce”, thus directly supporting the producing communities of the state.
