The head of Profeco (Mexico’s Federal Consumer Protection Agency), César Iván Escalante Ruiz, reported that the Petro Seven gas station located at Avenida Desarrollo #2801, corner of Retorno Impulso, in Chihuahua, is among the establishments with high prices for regular gasoline.
During the “Who’s Who in Fuels” report, the official detailed that the national average price of a liter of regular gasoline is 23.67 pesos; however, some stations exceed this level with profit margins above the agreed-upon limit.
Escalante Ruiz explained that, according to the current agreement with the sector, the profit margin should not exceed two pesos per liter. Nevertheless, several stations—including Petro Seven in Chihuahua—are among those that are “going way over the top” with their prices.
The same report indicated that other stations in the country, such as one belonging to the ARCO brand in Guadalajara, reach prices of up to 25.35 pesos per liter, with margins exceeding the established limit.
