They could also drift toward different regions of the state of Puebla, including Atlixco, Angelópolis, the Sierra Norte, and the Sierra Nororiental.
The State Civil Protection Coordination reported that, should emissions occur from the Popocatépetl volcano, the ash could disperse northeastward in the coming hours.
According to the wind forecast issued this Monday, May 11, volcanic particles could drift primarily toward different regions of the state of Puebla, including Atlixco, Angelópolis, the Sierra Norte, and the Sierra Nororiental.
Authorities also indicated that the potential ashfall could reach areas of the states of Tlaxcala and Veracruz.
Civil Protection recommended that the public stay tuned to official reports and take precautions in case of ashfall, such as covering water tanks, closing doors and windows, avoiding outdoor activities, and wearing face masks to protect their respiratory system.
