Just days after the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) touted the start of commercial operation at the Mérida IV “Elvia Carrillo Puerto” Combined Cycle Power Plant, power outages have resurfaced.

Since last night, several areas of Mérida and municipalities in the interior of the state have reported power outages, and this Friday, the CFE confirmed that there were also blackouts in Campeche, Quintana Roo, Chiapas, and Tabasco.

In Mérida, there were outages in southern neighborhoods, Francisco de Montejo and Las Américas, and other residential areas in the west, such as Mulsay, where power was restored early this morning.

Municipalities such as Cacalchén, Kinchil, Seyé, Tizimín, Peto, Tekax, Dzemul, and Telchac Puerto were without electricity starting at 11 p.m. and service was restored around 6 a.m. this Friday.

For its part, the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) reported that electricity service was fully restored this Friday, although the state-owned company did not explain the causes of the outages.

The CFE emphasized that it maintains constant monitoring and close coordination with the National Energy Control Center (CENACE), as well as with local authorities in each municipality.
