The Secretariat of Tourism announced that a tattoo festival will take place in Mazatlán at the end of the month, an event intended to position the port city within a new market segment.
The gathering will bring together more than 200 artists and exhibitors—both domestic and international—for an event to be held at the Convention Center.
During a press conference, Alfonso Reséndiz Memije, Director of the Meetings Industry at Sectur (the Secretariat of Tourism), speaking on behalf of the State Secretary of Tourism, Mireya Sosa Osuna, noted that attendance is expected to exceed 1,000 people. This figure includes artists, art brands, national and international media outlets, as well as painters, tattoo artists, and the general public.
“Today, we are not merely presenting a tattoo festival; rather, we are unveiling an artistic, cultural, and tourism platform that places Mazatlán in the global spotlight, capturing the attention of thousands of people both within and outside of Mexico,” he affirmed.
For its 2026 edition—which will be hosted at the Convention Center from May 29 to 31—the Pacific Ink Master festival has already confirmed the participation of artists hailing from seven different countries.
“This festival represents talent, creativity, and artistic expression, while also generating economic activity for our port city. Over the course of three days, Mazatlán will welcome domestic artists, visitors, and exhibitors from various parts of the world, thereby strengthening both our tourism industry and the local economy,” Reséndiz Memije highlighted.
Gabriela Elguezabal Álvarez, the event’s General Manager, emphasized that the festival is designed as an inclusive space—one intended for families, young people, local artists, and anyone looking to experience something truly unique in Mazatlán.
“For many years, tattooing was viewed through a very limited lens; today, however, we aim to demonstrate that beneath this movement lies a vibrant creative industry—one defined by discipline, immense talent, and genuine artistic expression,” she explained.
More than 200 artists of international renown will gather in the port city to showcase their creativity—not only through the art of tattooing but also through other mediums such as painting, graffiti, digital art, and music. The event will also feature a variety of family-friendly experiences, all of which will be offered completely free of charge. Attendees will be able to enjoy workshops for children, drawing contests, exhibitions, a kids’ zone, live music, an entrepreneurs’ bazaar, a modified car show, professional wrestling, and many other activities.
Alejandro Mendo, the event’s Director General, emphasized that the goal is to showcase Mazatlán as a major cultural and artistic hub.
“It will serve as a showcase for artists to display their work, and for people to discover the world of art through the more than 30 brands participating in the event—brands that will put Mazatlán on the global stage,” he noted.
