Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier affirmed that Puebla is positioning itself at the forefront of logistics and road transport at the national and international levels with the launch of the country’s first Training Center for Freight Transport Operators, located in San Martín Texmelucan.
During the project’s presentation, the governor emphasized that this facility will protect the jobs of thousands of families, strengthen the state’s competitiveness, and address the shortage of specialized operators facing the trucking sector both in Mexico and in other regions of the world. He also explained that the certifications awarded will have international academic validity.
The head of the state executive branch reported that the center required an investment of 20 million pesos and underscored that the location in San Martín Texmelucan reflects the region’s strategic connectivity with various highway corridors throughout the country. She also invited women to join the trucking industry and reiterated that in Mexico and Puebla, it’s time for women.

The new facility offers technical and professional training for women and men interested in joining a field with high job demand. The project includes training in safe driving, logistics, international regulations, and the operation of cargo vehicles.
The director of the Puebla State Institute for Job Training (ICATEP), Alfonso Aguirre, explained that the project was made possible thanks to the support of the state government, coordination with the National Chamber of Freight Transportation (CANACAR), and the participation of the Ministry of Economic Development and Labor.
The official emphasized that graduates will be able to access job opportunities in North America and Europe, given that the global shortage of truck drivers continues to grow. According to figures cited during the event, there are currently 3.6 million unfilled positions in 36 countries.
