The president of the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Hotel Association, Paola Ivette González Hernández, reported that the hotel sector in this beach resort has already launched a series of promotional strategies and internal activities to address the low season in the coming weeks, before the start of the summer vacation period.
This Wednesday, in statements to reporters, the representative of the hotel industry in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo indicated that to counteract the decrease in occupancy during one of the most challenging periods of the year, the destination’s sales committee is maintaining several active promotional campaigns throughout the country. She indicated that key actions include strengthening air connectivity with flights operated by Viva Aerobús and Volaris airlines, as well as intensifying promotional tours and tourism caravans in Michoacán and the states of the Bajío region, which represent the main natural markets for this tourist destination.
The central objective, she pointed out, is to maintain the flow of visitors and economic activity in the port before the summer season officially begins.
Furthermore, the hotel association leader indicated that businesses in the sector are promoting options both inside and outside the hotels.
She explained that the resorts are preparing a program of recreational, cultural, and social activities within the hotels themselves, specially designed to offer tourists a positive experience during rainy days.
She also highlighted that a strong push is currently underway to promote new restaurants and tourist attractions that have begun to establish themselves in the Ixtapa area. This aims to diversify the destination’s offerings and generate attractive alternatives so that domestic and international tourists have more leisure options during their stay.
On the other hand, the hotel industry leader noted that there is currently uncertainty in the sector regarding the behavior of the 2026 rainy and tropical cyclone season in the Pacific. However, she assured that hotels are already prepared with the necessary protocols to handle any weather scenario and guarantee the safety of guests.
In this regard, the hotel representative pointed out that last year intense hydrometeorological activity was also predicted, generating concern, but ultimately only minor rainfall occurred in the region, which did not affect tourism.
