This Wednesday, the Guerrero State Coordinating Committee of Education Workers (CETEG) once again occupied public offices and blocked streets in various cities as part of their ongoing mobilization.

The National Coordinating Committee of Education Workers (CNTE) continues its actions in Mexico City and Oaxaca, while simultaneously engaging in dialogue with federal authorities, seeking responses to its union demands.

The CNTE is demanding the repeal of the 2007 ISSSTE Law, as well as the education reform, the elimination of the Unit of the System for the Career of Teachers (USICAMM), and a 100 percent salary increase. They are also requesting a meeting with Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum to discuss these demands.

Teachers from School Zone 09 of the Tlacotepec Preschool, in the municipality of Heliodoro Castillo, occupied alternate offices of the Guerrero State Education Secretariat (SEG) for the third consecutive day.

At 8:35 a.m., approximately 30 teachers arrived at the building, located on Cristóbal Colón Street in the center of the capital, where the Department of Early Childhood Education, the Preschool Department Headquarters, and the Department of Professions and Social Service operate, and occupied the offices.

At 10:50 a.m., approximately 300 CETEG members marched from their building and occupied the Juan N. Álvarez building, headquarters of the State Government’s Ministry of Finance and Administration. They also blocked traffic on Ignacio Zaragoza, 16 de Septiembre, and 5 de Mayo streets, surrounding the offices.

Members of the CETEG teachers’ union occupied the local branch of the Institute for Social Security and Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) this morning and painted messages on its walls.

Approximately 200 protesters blocked the lane of Costera Avenue heading towards the Naval Base, where they set up a protest camp.

In addition, the CETEG members kept the offices of the Acapulco-Coyuca de Benítez Regional Education Services of the State Education Secretariat (SEG) closed. These offices are located in the Oviedo building and the former Ineban building, which they occupied yesterday.

CETEG members from various schools in the northern region joined the national strike today and occupied the state tax administration offices.

At 9:20 a.m., about 50 CETEG members from the dissident group led by Political Commission representative Víctor Hidaldo Ramírez occupied the tax collection offices of the State Government’s Ministry of Administration and Finance and blocked Emiliano Zapata Street, one block from City Hall.

This same group has occupied the regional office of the State Education Services (SEG) since last Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the CETEG group aligned with the state leadership is maintaining a sit-in at the Plaza de las Tres Garantías next to the Municipal Palace, which is active from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

This morning, more than 200 teachers and administrative staff from Zone 05 of Special Education in Iguala joined the work stoppage and marched through the city center before joining the sit-in.
