This Monday, Guerrero experienced another day of violence. The bodies of eight men were found in different locations in the municipalities of Marquelia, Acapulco, and Chilpancingo.
In the community of La Guadalupe, in the municipality of Marquelia, on the Costa Chica, a white Mazda was reported burning at 6:30 a.m.
Upon arriving at the scene, paramedics from Civil Protection found a partially burned body outside the vehicle and two more burned bodies inside.
At the crime scene, law enforcement authorities located spent casings from both long guns and handguns.
One version of events indicates that the victims were ambushed while traveling on the Marquelia–Barra de Tecoanapa highway, near the town of La Guadalupe.
The victims were identified as Ricardo Morales, as well as brothers Irving and Uriel Vicente Rodríguez.
In Acapulco, three men were murdered and their bodies dumped in the community of Kilómetro 21.
Authorities confirmed the discovery after 7:00 a.m. on the town’s main street.
According to a ministerial report, the victims’ bodies showed signs of beatings and their hands were bound. Cardboard signs with messages were left at the scene.
In Chilpancingo, at 7:30 a.m., three bodies were reported lying along the Chilpancingo-Tixtla highway.
At kilometer 7 of the highway, authorities found the bodies of two men, approximately 35 years old.
The victims were lying face up, partially undressed, and showed signs of torture, according to the authorities’ report.
As of Monday afternoon, state authorities had not issued any statement regarding the latest acts of criminal violence.
This crisis of violence occurs despite the fact that Claudia Sheinbaum’s government has boasted that crime rates are decreasing; however, in Guerrero, governed by Evelyn Salgado of the Morena party, society lives a different reality.
