Brighite Granados de la Rosa, the state president of Morena in Chihuahua, confirmed that U.S. immigration authorities revoked her visa when she attempted to enter the country on May 29.

In a public statement, she clarified that the revocation of her travel document stemmed from a traffic violation committed ten years ago in New Mexico.

The Morena official revealed that she had renewed her visa two years ago without consular authorities raising any objections, making the recent measure a surprise to her.

“On May 29, around 7 p.m., I attempted to cross into the United States as I have done for years. Upon arriving at the port of entry, I was directed to secondary inspection; once inside the offices, I was informed that my visa was being revoked due to a traffic violation that occurred approximately 10 years ago in the state of New Mexico,” she stated.

The Chihuahua-based leader acknowledged the political context surrounding visa revocations for figures aligned with Morena but insisted that the reason for her case was a traffic violation, not any alleged link to organized crime.

She confirmed her new U.S. immigration status after Daniela Álvarez, president of the National Action Party (PAN) in Chihuahua, publicly disclosed the situation and challenged the Morena official to show her document or conduct a live broadcast from U.S. territory.

Brighite Granados de la Rosa joins the list of Morena members whose U.S. visas have been revoked for various reasons; others include the Governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, who confirmed the revocation of her visa—as well as that of her then-husband, Carlos Torres Torres—in May 2025.
