Roadblocks TODAY, June 10: Highway closures in Mexico, road closures, and alternate routes according to CAPUFE.

raffic conditions on Mexico’s highways this Wednesday, June 10, are being affected by accidents, spilled cargo, maintenance work, and adverse weather conditions.

According to reports issued by CAPUFE, Arco Norte, and the National Guard Highways Division, several road sections are experiencing lane reductions, partial closures, and long vehicle queues. Motorists are advised to plan their trips in advance and exercise extra caution.

The main disruptions are concentrated on highways in Veracruz, Morelos, Oaxaca, Puebla, the State of Mexico, and Hidalgo, where emergency response operations and preventive measures related to recent rainfall remain underway.

Which highways have partial closures and accidents today?

Among the roads experiencing the most significant complications is the Córdoba–Veracruz Highway, where lane reductions continue near kilometer 97 in the direction of the Port of Veracruz due to cargo transfer operations following an incident.

Another affected route is the Cuernavaca–Acapulco Highway, specifically near kilometer 137 heading toward Cuernavaca, where emergency personnel are responding to a cargo spill that has forced lane reductions.

On the Isla–Acayucan Highway, near kilometer 163 in the direction of Isla, traffic has been partially restored; however, operations to remove vehicles involved in a traffic accident are still ongoing.

Likewise, the Mexico City–Cuernavaca Highway is experiencing heavy traffic between kilometers 78 and 80 toward Mexico City. Although traffic has been reopened, partial restrictions remain in place while crews continue responding to the incident.

The National Guard Highways Division also reported a partial closure caused by an accident on the Tulancingo–Tihuatlán Highway, near kilometer 224+200 in Veracruz, close to the community of Enrique Rodríguez Cano, in the direction of Puebla.

Weather conditions are also causing complications along several highway corridors throughout the country.

CAPUFE reported rainfall on the Tehuacán–Oaxaca Highway near the Huitzo and Suchixtlahuaca toll plazas, which may reduce visibility and increase the risk of accidents.

In addition, preventive maintenance work is underway on several highways due to the effects of recent rainfall:

  • Mexico City–Puebla Highway
  • Mexico City–Acapulco Highway
  • Cuacnopalan–Oaxaca Highway

According to CAPUFE, these efforts are intended to improve road safety and address potential damage to pavement surfaces caused by recent storms.

Authorities recommend reducing speed, maintaining a safe following distance, and following all instructions from highway personnel.

What is happening on Arco Norte, and how much delay is there today?

One of the most severe disruptions is currently occurring on the Arco Norte Highway, where operations continue following an incident at kilometer 62+500 in the direction of Atlacomulco.

According to the highway operator, intermittent closures remain in effect, resulting in a vehicle queue of approximately 13 kilometers (8 miles) and delays of around 50 minutes for drivers.

The last available exit before the affected area is:

  • Tula 1

Authorities recommend considering alternate routes and allowing additional travel time to avoid delays.

Recommendations for drivers during closures and rainfall

If you plan to travel on any of the affected highways today, authorities recommend:

  • Checking traffic reports before departure.
  • Reducing speed in rainy areas.
  • Avoiding sudden lane changes.
  • Keeping an adequate fuel supply.
  • Following instructions from CAPUFE and the National Guard.
  • Considering alternate routes whenever possible.
  • Increasing the safety distance between vehicles.

Road conditions continue to change as accident response operations and maintenance work progress.

The main affected routes currently include the Mexico City–Cuernavaca, Cuernavaca–Acapulco, Córdoba–Veracruz, Isla–Acayucan, Tehuacán–Oaxaca, and Arco Norte highways, where partial closures, lane reductions, and heavy traffic remain in effect.

Drivers planning to use these routes in the coming hours should stay alert to official updates from CAPUFE, the National Guard, and highway operators, as traffic conditions may change as operations continue and traffic flow gradually returns to normal.
