Soho House brings the spirit of Baja California Sur to Malibu before its arrival in Los Cabos

As part of the path toward the opening of Soho Beach House Los Cabos, Soho House gathered members of its creative community from Mexico and Los Angeles at Little Beach House Malibu for an experience inspired by the flavors, culture, and essence of Baja California Sur.

More than a pre‑opening event, the gathering served as a preview of the first Soho House Beach House in Mexico. The choice of Malibu was not random. The relationship between California and Los Cabos has, for decades, been a natural connection marked by the sea, a chill lifestyle, and a creative community that finds in both destinations a meeting point.

More than a pre‑opening event, the gathering worked as a window into the universe that will define the first Soho House Beach House in Mexico.

The experience was guided by gastronomy, one of the fundamental pillars of the concept. Andrea Cavaliere, Culinary Director Americas at Soho House, collaborated with renowned Mexican chef Javier Plascencia to create a menu inspired by the ingredients and culinary traditions of Baja California. “We wanted to share an experience that reflected the gastronomic and cultural richness of Baja California Sur, respecting its roots while also showing its contemporary energy,” Cavaliere shared during the celebration.

The proposal allowed guests to explore the region’s flavors through a selection of dishes designed exclusively for the occasion, reinforcing Soho House’s commitment to experiences that connect people through local culture.

Music also played an important role. The atmosphere was created by Sofía Stainer, a singer, songwriter, and pianist from Baja California Sur, whose style blends indie pop with electronic sounds. “Music has the ability to transport us to places and emotions. Being able to bring a bit of Baja California Sur to Malibu through my songs was something very special,” the artist said.

Between conversations by the ocean and a sunset that seemed designed for the occasion, attendees enjoyed The Prickly Worm, the signature drink of the evening made with Patrón Reposado, mezcal, prickly pear, guajillo, Licor Limpia’Uras, Suze, and lemon. A mix that encapsulated the relaxed character of the experience.

One of the most talked‑about details of the night was the gift given to guests: a baroque pearl brooch created by Amorfa. Beyond being a keepsake from the celebration, the piece served as a preview of La Perla, one of the most distinctive concepts that will be part of Soho Beach House Los Cabos.

Conceived as an intimate cabaret and cocktail room, La Perla will be inspired by the glamour of Mexican theaters and nightlife of the 1940s. Its narrative draws from a fascinating chapter in the history of Baja California Sur, when La Paz was internationally recognized for the extraordinary quality of pearls extracted from the Sea of Cortez—an activity that shaped the region’s economic and cultural identity during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. “The concept of La Perla seeks to pay tribute to a history deeply tied to Baja California Sur, celebrating the cultural richness and legacy that continue to inspire the region,” representatives of Soho House noted.

With stunning ocean views, the evening made it clear that Soho Beach House Los Cabos aims to be much more than a hospitality destination. The project seeks to create a community where gastronomy, design, culture, and entertainment coexist, always connected to the unique spirit of Baja California Sur.

As the official opening approaches, gatherings like this offer a first glimpse into the vision behind the first Soho House Beach House in Mexico: a space where luxury is lived in a relaxed way and where every detail tells a story.
