Tired of watching illegal loggers destroy their forests, the residents of San Pedro Atlapulco, in Ocoyoacac, seized several vehicles used for illegal logging and blocked the Mexico–Toluca highway to demand permanent enforcement operations.
💥 This was the cry of a community that refuses to stand by while its forest, water, air, and future are taken away.
🌲 Because for many, those trees are not just part of the landscape—they are life and the legacy they will leave to their children.
👉 Residents say this is not the first time they have confronted those responsible for devastating the area.
🚨 And while authorities often arrive too late, the community has had to organize itself to protect what should already be protected by the government.
⚠️ This is the result of a community reaching its breaking point and deciding not to give up. Ocoyoacac sent a clear message: its forests are not alone.
💚 Defending a forest requires pride in the land people call home, love for the roots that sustain it, and the strength of a community unwilling to watch its heritage disappear.
💪 When a community comes together to protect what belongs to it, it demonstrates dignity, identity, and a deep commitment to future generations.
👏 Such courage and sense of belonging deserve recognition and respect. Thank you for loving and caring for nature.
