Residents protest at Casa Jalisco; they demand a solution from SIAPA for contaminated water

Hundreds of residents from various neighborhoods in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area gathered peacefully and independently outside Casa Jalisco (the Jalisco State Government House).

The demonstration aimed to demand an immediate solution from SIAPA (the Intermunicipal System for Water and Sanitation Services) and state authorities regarding the severe water supply problem. They claim the water arrives brown, dirty, and with a foul odor of rotten eggs.

The protesters, who are not affiliated with any political party or neighborhood organization, displayed bottles of contaminated water and photographs of their pipes. The demonstrators stated that the situation is affecting the health of their families and pets, making it impossible to perform basic tasks such as bathing or brushing their teeth.

Residents from areas like Colonia Americana emphasized the high cost of their contracted water services compared to the extremely poor quality they receive.

Due to the large number of people demanding to be seen by the governor, traffic police have implemented complete closures on Manuel Acuña Avenue, from Rubén Darío Street to López Mateos Avenue, also affecting the intersection with Montreal Street.

Authorities recommend that motorists use alternate routes.
