The hunt for “Los Chapitos” has intensified; U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed the search for Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar and Jesús Alfredo Guzmán Salazar, two of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán’s sons, reiterating that it is offering up to $10 million for information leading to their location, arrest, and conviction.
The U.S. federal agency disseminated the message through its official account on Twitter, where it also issued a stark warning: do not attempt to capture them, as both are considered armed and dangerous.
In the post, the U.S. agency describes the Guzmán Salazar brothers as members of the criminal organization known as “Los Chapitos,” noting that they inherited part of the drug trafficking networks built by their father, Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán Loera, former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel.
They remain at large, and the agency reiterated that it is maintaining a $10 million reward for information leading to their capture and subsequent conviction.
As part of the alert, the agency asked anyone with information about their whereabouts to contact Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) at 520-335-7315 or via email at [email protected].
Who are “Los Menores,” the faction known as “Los Chapitos”?
For U.S. authorities, the Sinaloa Cartel continues to be one of the criminal organizations with the greatest international reach, responsible for trafficking fentanyl and other drugs into the United States, as well as activities such as kidnapping, homicide, and money laundering.
Within this structure, a faction emerged comprised of the sons of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán Loera. Although popularly known as “Los Chapitos,” they are also referred to as “Los Menores” in official documents and statements from U.S. agencies.
This group consists of:
Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar, known as “El Chapito.”
Jesús Alfredo Guzmán Salazar, alias “El Alfredillo.”
Ovidio Guzmán López, nicknamed “El Ratón.”
Joaquín Guzmán López.
The Guzmán family also included Édgar Guzmán López, who died on May 8, 2008, after being killed in an armed attack at the age of 22.
