Following San Miguel de Allende’s recent designation as the World’s Best City for the third consecutive year, the state of Guanajuato is significantly strengthening its presence in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) tourism sector by becoming the host of Meeting Place Mexico 2026.

⇒ This event represents the most important business gathering in the sector in the country, bringing together professional organizers, specialized suppliers, and tourist destinations to forge business alliances.

With over 23 years of experience, Meeting Place Mexico has established itself as the “Mexico Convention Fair.” Its operating model facilitates direct connections between service providers and decision-makers, enhancing tourism competitiveness both nationally and internationally.

The current administration, led by Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo and the Ministry of Tourism and Identity, has prioritized this forum to showcase the potential of the state’s six key MICE destinations: León, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato City, Irapuato, Celaya, and Silao.

The Secretary of Tourism and Identity, María Guadalupe Robles León, was responsible for the official welcome and opening of the event. The Guanajuato delegation maintains an active presence, including pre-arranged appointments, institutional representation, sixteen access points for representatives, participation in training programs, and the deployment of seven Table Top business spaces.

The selection of Guanajuato as the host city is not accidental; This reflects a continuation of the positive results seen in previous editions:

  • In the 2023 Aguascalientes edition, the state delegation secured 60 business meetings with global companies such as American Express Global Business Travel, BBVA, Alpura, Viajes El Corte Inglés, and Compartamos Banco.
  • In 2025, the city of León hosted Meeting Place León: The Meetings Fusion, bringing together nearly 200 attendees and 50 event planners, generating over 864 business meetings with a projected short-, medium-, and long-term economic impact exceeding 146 million pesos.
  • That same year, Guanajuato City hosted the event for the first time, accumulating over 600 business meetings that solidified the region’s position.

For state authorities, hosting Meeting Place Mexico in San Miguel de Allende represents an opportunity to establish itself as a strategic partner for professional event organizers. The ultimate goal is the continuous attraction of exhibitions, congresses, and incentive trips that will trigger economic growth, promote the development of local micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, and comprehensively benefit the tourism value chain in the region.
