The Secretariat of Culture of the “Gobierno de la Gente” (People’s Government) reports that all four performances of the Operísima México season played to full houses, reflecting the public’s enthusiastic response to this artistic initiative, which brings together young opera talents at the Teatro Estudio of the Teatro del Bicentenario Roberto Plasencia Saldaña.
Tickets for the performances of Georges Bizet’s Carmen (July 13 and 14) and Giacomo Puccini’s La Bohème (July 15 and 16) were completely claimed during the free ticket distribution, confirming the interest among the people of Guanajuato in high-quality opera productions. Due to the limited capacity of the Teatro Estudio, the number of available seats was restricted, and admission was allocated until the venue reached full capacity.
This series is part of the academic program of Operísima México, an opera studio based in San Miguel de Allende dedicated to training singers through masterclasses covering vocal interpretation, musicality, style, repertoire, pronunciation, and phonetics, all led by renowned specialists.
As part of the Operísima Arioso Summer Institute, participants conclude their training by presenting semi-staged productions. This offers the public a chance to see the work accomplished during the course while providing the new generation of performers with valuable stage experience before a live audience.
The performances are presented in a semi-staged format with piano accompaniment and mark the culmination of the intensive summer program, allowing young singers to put into practice the skills and tools acquired during their training.
The Secretariat of Culture of the “Gobierno de la Gente” appreciates the public’s trust and enthusiasm; this response reaffirms interest in the performing arts and strengthens the institution’s commitment to fostering spaces for the training, creation, and enjoyment of artistic works of excellence. The Operísima México season will take place from July 13 to 16 at the Teatro Estudio of the Teatro del Bicentenario Roberto Plasencia Saldaña, with performances at 7:00 p.m.
