Summer vacation is about to begin, and this isn’t a reason to panic, but rather an invitation to plan how to keep your children entertained during these days off. Going to the beach isn’t always an option, but Mexico City also has plenty of ways to spend fun-filled moments as a family. Among the favorite plans are amusement parks, those places where rides, roller coasters, and shows ensure that children—and adults too—have a great day. In the capital, there are three permanent options: Six Flags, Aztlán, and Kataplum! Here’s what you’ll find at each one and how much admission costs.

Six Flags Mexico is the only amusement park south of Mexico City designed for adrenaline and adventure lovers. Located in the Ajusco area, this park is renowned for having the fastest and most extreme attractions in the country. It boasts over 35 rides for both children and adults. The most popular roller coasters are Superman: The Last Escape, considered one of the longest and fastest in Latin America. There’s also Medusa Steel Coaster and Batman: The Ride. In addition, there are skill games, live shows, themed experiences, and food and beverage areas.

How much does admission to Six Flags Mexico cost?

To enter the largest amusement park in Mexico City, there are different types of passes: annual pass, day tickets, and group tickets. A day pass costs $899 MXN per person, although the price varies depending on the day and season. Tickets can be purchased at the park’s ticket booth or on the website: sixflags.com.

Aztlán Urban Park is the new amusement park in the second section of Chapultepec Forest, located on the site of the former Chapultepec Fair. It features around 30 attractions, including rides and skill games. Among the most popular rides is Serpéntikha, a 540-meter-long roller coaster. There’s also Malacatonche, an extreme 18-meter-high pendulum ride that spins 360 degrees. And, of course, Aztlán 360, an 80-meter-high Ferris wheel offering panoramic views of the city from the top. There’s also a carousel, a sensory garden, and an immersive experience.

How much does a ticket to Aztlán cost?

General admission to Aztlán Urban Park is free, meaning you can enjoy the park itself. However, there is a charge to use the rides. There are three types of packages: Plus Futlan, Pues Plata, and Plus Oro, ranging from $488 MXN to $1420 MXN per person. Alternatively, you can purchase top-ups of 200, 500, and 1000 pesos, which you use on each attraction and skill game, and the cost is deducted as needed.

KATAPLUM! is one of the most amazing amusement parks in Mexico City, located on the rooftop of the Parque Las Antenas shopping center in the Iztapalapa borough. This park has approximately 30 attractions, including roller coasters, mechanical rides, and skill games. The most thrilling rides include Carros Locos, Patatús, Ñañaras, and Las Nubes, to name a few. For younger children, there are also great rides like the Trenecito (Little Train), the Teacups, and the mini Ferris wheel. There are also face painting, photo booths, and food areas.

How much does it cost to get into KATAPLUM!

This outdoor playground offers three types of passes: KataClub Annual, KATAPLUM! Access, and Kataporte. The first costs $749 MXN per person; the second $140 MXN; and the third $390 MXN. You can buy the Katacard at the park’s ticket booth or online at kataplum.com.mx and reload it as needed while at the park.
