Sinaloa Governor on Leave Rubén Rocha Moya Wants to Surrender to U.S. Authorities, but Morena and Its Government (Led by Claudia Sheinbaum) Are Preventing It, Claims Manuel López San Martín

“Sinaloa Governor on leave Rubén Rocha Moya wants to surrender to U.S. authorities, but Morena and its government (led by Claudia Sheinbaum) are preventing him from doing so,” and they are even allegedly forcing him to return to the governorship “even if the situation is nightmarish,” while keeping him under constant surveillance, according to journalist Manuel López San Martín.

The journalist, news anchor, and political analyst claims that “the risk that he might talk and reveal everything he knows in order to secure better conditions through a possible agreement has made the top leadership of the Fourth Transformation (4T) extremely nervous.”

“The panic is so great that they would not even mind presenting the return of someone who should be facing justice as a political trophy, displaying someone who should have remained out of sight,” he adds.

According to his sources, Rocha Moya, who has been accused by the United States of protecting Los Chapitos, a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel, “has sought channels of communication and has already established contact with U.S. authorities, and the Mexican government is aware of it.”

Governor of Sinaloa on Leave

Morena Is Allegedly Forcing Rocha Moya to Return to Office

“He has been sending signals and messages. That, and nothing else, is the reason why the Morena government is allegedly forcing him to return to the governorship,” the columnist wrote in his article titled “Rocha Wants to Surrender.”

Rocha Moya Under Constant Surveillance

According to López San Martín, the governor on leave “is being kept surrounded and silenced. They want him under control and constant surveillance. What better way than to keep him sitting in the governor’s office? Surrounded and with no room to maneuver, even if the situation is nightmarish.”

“Rocha Moya wants to go to the United States, and Morena cannot afford to let that happen. That is why the surveillance around him is relentless,” he added.

Rocha Moya Wants to Cooperate with U.S. Justice, but “Morena Is Preventing It”

López San Martín also claims that “the governor on leave wants to cooperate and find a way out that would allow him to shift criminal responsibility away from his closest family members, beginning with his sons.”

However, he argues that “the government is unwilling to pay that political price,” because “someone with so much information becoming a loose end represents a serious risk to the political stability and electoral future of the Fourth Transformation.”

The National Palace and Palenque Allegedly Know That If Rocha Moya Speaks, Morena and the 4T Could Collapse

Following the accusations filed in a New York court linking the Sinaloa governor to organized crime, López San Martín describes the situation as a political earthquake capable of shaking Morena and the Fourth Transformation to their foundations because of everything Rocha allegedly knows about criminal infiltration reaching the highest levels of political power in Mexico.

“If he talks, the narco-party collapses. That is why, to protect the movement, the other accomplices are willing to do whatever it takes.”

“The National Palace and Palenque know that if Rocha opens his mouth, the party begins to crumble, starting with López Obrador, who has been the governor’s friend for more than 25 years.”

“Rubén Rocha knows almost everything about political and electoral deals, alliances, and arrangements.”

“More than anyone else, he knows that his electoral victory was supported by the criminal operations of the Sinaloa Cartel, which allegedly kidnapped and threatened hundreds of opposition campaign workers and, in return, shared power with them,” he asserted.

At Least Seven Morena Governors Have Allegedly Sought Contact with U.S. Authorities

According to López San Martín, Rocha Moya is not the only one. He claims that at least seven Morena governors have attempted to establish contact with U.S. authorities.

Although they have all allegedly offered information, collaboration, and cooperation, he says that U.S. authorities do not need what they have to offer because “the investigations against dozens of politicians allegedly linked to organized crime are already complete, and the evidence is overwhelming.”

The United States Is Also Investigating Business Networks

In his article for El Heraldo, López San Martín further states that U.S. authorities are pursuing not only politicians allegedly linked to organized crime but also businesses, shell companies, and hundreds of government contractors connected to municipal, state, and federal administrations.

According to the columnist, Rocha Moya would represent only the tip of the iceberg of a much larger alleged criminal network that, for now, is preventing him from surrendering to U.S. authorities.
