The event was led by Jimmy Morales, President and CEO of NASCAR México Series, and Humberto García Gálvez, the championship’s Operations Director, who outlined the sporting and organizational plans for the remaining races.
During the conference, they discussed the main challenges drivers and teams will face during the decisive stage of the season, as well as the importance of each remaining event in determining the championship winners.
The presentation combined sporting information, institutional messages, live music, and appearances by NASCAR México Series drivers.
Yucatán Aims to Make History in NASCAR México Series
One of the main topics of the conference was the presentation of the Yucatán 200 Grand Prix, which will be held on October 17 and 18 at the “Emerson Fittipaldi” Autodrome.
The race will serve as the semifinal of the season, making the results in Yucatán crucial for the drivers still in contention for the championships before the final round.
The racing program will include events for the NASCAR México Series, NASCAR Challenge, and Trucks México Series, with all drivers and teams competing for their respective championships.
During the presentation, organizers emphasized that bringing NASCAR México Series to Yucatán will introduce more fans in southeastern Mexico to national motorsports while strengthening the sport’s presence in the region.
They also highlighted the opportunities the event will create for the state’s tourism, sports, commercial, and business sectors, as well as for sponsors, service providers, and local companies.
Government Support and Local Representation
Representing the Government of Yucatán, Víctor López Martínez, the state’s representative in Mexico City, emphasized the significance of hosting a national motorsports event of this scale and highlighted its sporting, tourism, and economic benefits for Yucatán.
He also recognized Carlos Novelo, the Yucatán-born driver who will compete in the Yucatán 200 Grand Prix, representing his home state before local fans.
National Sports Authorities Highlight the Event
Marco Antonio Arriola Valenzuela, Director of the National Sports System, representing the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (CONADE), emphasized that motorsports require physical preparation, concentration, technical ability, teamwork, and strict adherence to safety protocols.
Arriola Valenzuela also highlighted Carlos Novelo’s participation, noting the importance of a Yucatán driver competing in a national championship on one of the most significant weekends of the season.
Carlos Novelo to Race Before His Home Crowd
Carlos Novelo will represent Yucatán during the Yucatán 200 Grand Prix, giving local fans the opportunity to support one of their own during one of the championship’s most important events.
His participation will strengthen the connection between the championship, Yucatán fans, and younger generations interested in motorsports.
Novelo will compete in the Trucks México Series driving the No. 18 Escudería Telmex truck, and he will also participate in the featured NASCAR México Series race during the semifinal weekend.
Having a hometown driver competing in two of the weekend’s races is expected to be one of the most distinctive aspects of the Yucatán 200 Grand Prix.
Championship Continues to Grow
Jimmy Morales concluded the presentation by outlining the overall outlook for NASCAR México Series and emphasizing the importance of continuing to strengthen the championship’s sporting, commercial, and organizational development.
The conference marked an important step in the national promotion of the Yucatán 200 Grand Prix and highlighted the significance of Yucatán hosting the NASCAR México Series semifinal.
