The governments of Guanajuato, Aguascalientes, Colima, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit, and Zacatecas agreed to strengthen regional security coordination during the Eighth Regional Security Meeting, which was also attended by commanders from the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) and the National Guard.
The meeting took place on Wednesday at the Guanajuato Regional Museum (Alhóndiga de Granaditas), where state and federal authorities reviewed progress on security strategies and defined new actions to strengthen joint efforts among the central-western states of Mexico.
States Strengthen Information and Intelligence Sharing
During the meeting, assessments of the region’s security situation were presented, along with the results of coordinated operations.
Authorities also agreed to strengthen the exchange of information and intelligence among the participating states and to promote joint actions to address security issues shared throughout the region.
Participation by Sedena and the National Guard
The meeting was attended by the heads of government from Guanajuato, Aguascalientes, Colima, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit, and Zacatecas, together with commanders from Sedena and the National Guard.
The objective of these meetings is to coordinate strategies between state and federal authorities in order to improve the response to security challenges across the region.
As part of the event, attendees held a guard of honor at the Hall of Heroes (Recinto de los Héroes), located inside the Alhóndiga de Granaditas.
