Members of the Mexican Navy successfully rescued a tourist who was swept away by strong waves at Los Muertos Beach in Puerto Vallarta, as part of Operation Lifesaver Summer 2026.
The Twelfth Naval Zone reported that naval personnel, acting as Coast Guard, responded immediately to a distress call after noticing a woman struggling to return to shore after being pulled by the current.
Rescue swimmers and maritime surveillance personnel entered the water and brought the tourist to safety, preventing the situation from escalating.
After the rescue, the woman was taken to the control post, where she received medical attention from Naval Medical personnel. Following the medical evaluation, it was determined that she was in good health and only had minor scrapes on her extremities, which were treated on site.
Once the inspection was completed, Navy personnel provided the individual with recommendations for safely entering the water, and they subsequently left on their own, accompanied by their family.
The Mexican Navy emphasized that these actions are part of Operation Lifesaver Summer 2026, through which specialized personnel provide surveillance and timely assistance at the country’s main beaches during the holiday season.
